BHMS - Extra Duty Position - 7th Grade Boys' Soccer Coach

Job Summary
Lead 7th Grade Boys' Soccer team through daily practices, skills development, and character building while managing roster evaluations and equipment. Enforce league rules, maintain accurate scorebooks, and report facility or behavioral concerns immediately to the Athletic Director. Collaborate with assistant coaches and student managers at all coaches' meetings, while monitoring student-athlete academic progress and advising them on school procedures. Initiate regular communication with parents, manage team transportation, and follow up with the athletic trainer on injuries. Ensure all players adhere to the CCS Student Code of Character and maintain confidentiality regarding student records.
Required Qualifications
- Prior successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school and/or college level
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- A strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse community
- Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching that sport, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioning
- Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work
- High school or collegiate playing experience
- Experience working with middle and high school-aged students
- A positive student-centered approach to coaching
- Demonstrated technical, theoretical, and applied knowledge pertinent to the assigned sport
- CPR and first aid certified or the ability to become certified
- Strong affinity for the mission of Upper Darby School District and an educational philosophy consistent with the school's mission and values
- Knowledge of basic computer operations
- Required Clearances include Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34), Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114)
- Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
