Job Summary
The Behavioral Health RN provides direct psychiatric and mental health nursing care to an incarcerated population, executing provider orders for psychotropic medications and therapies, participating in crisis intervention and suicide prevention, and coordinating behavioral health care within the RN scope. Responsibilities include administering nursing processes, documenting accurately, monitoring and evaluating care using medical records and shift reports, responding to emergencies within scope, collaborating with custody and clinical staff, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies and regulations. Requires active NM RN license, at least 1 year of nursing experience (psychiatric/behavioral health or correctional experience preferred), and current BLS; preferred experience with correctional behavioral health, crisis intervention, and MAT/MOUD programs.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Mexico
- Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience; psychiatric, behavioral health, or correctional experience preferred
- Current BLS certification
- Knowledge of behavioral characteristics of mentally ill patients and methods of managing aggressive behavior
- Strong assessment, documentation, and critical-thinking skills; ability to function independently and make sound clinical judgments
