Job Summary
Lifeguard and Swim Instructor positions available with a pay rate of $16.43/hour. Lifeguard responsibilities include maintaining physical readiness, holding a valid lifeguard certification, and passing swim tests. Swim Instructors will teach swimming skills and hold certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid. Required qualifications also include basic computer skills, strong communication abilities, and completion of specific trainings within set timeframes. Part-time benefits include YMCA membership and retirement plans.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age of 16 or older (with valid NYS working papers for minors)
- Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
- Must have a valid lifeguard certification (within 30 days of hire)
- Demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards
- Be able to pass the CDYMCA swim test
- Basic computer skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to relate to diverse groups in the community
- Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration (completed within 30 days of hire)
- New Employee Orientation, Sexual Harassment, ALICE, and Bloodborne Pathogens trainings (completed within 90 days of hire)
