Job Summary
Lead middle school robotics students through engineering design, programming, and project management while coordinating afterschool build sessions and team meetings. Mentor 6th-8th graders at Anderson and Norup International, fostering leadership and collaboration in a safe, inclusive environment. Supervise the team at local competitions and manage administrative tasks including registration, budgeting, and equipment planning. Communicate regularly with students, families, school staff, and FIRST representatives. This after-school role runs September through March, with in-season meetings twice weekly and out-of-season sessions once weekly, totaling 6-10 hours per week. Candidates receive a $1,500 seasonal stipend.
Required Qualifications
- Enthusiasm for working with students and a commitment to student growth and empowerment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfort with tools and a general understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs), attend competitions, and supervise students in various settings
- Must pass all school/district background checks
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with programming (Java preferred), CAD or design tools, 3D printing, or CNC (preferred but not required)
- Experience with FIRST Robotics or similar programs is a plus
