Job Summary
Oversees Bechtel's rigging field operations as part of the Equipment Operations group, providing ES&H leadership and expert rigging supervision across projects. Serves as a core resource for crane and rigging planning, mobilization through demobilization, and ensures compliance with Bechtel standards. Supports temporary staffing in rigging supervision, reviews lift plans and method statements, and coordinates with subcontractors on lifting and transport activities. Develops training curricula, qualification frameworks, and craft competency programs; leads staffing decisions and performance reviews for rigging personnel. Maintains industry knowledge on heavy lift cranes, ASME B30 standards, NCCCO certifications, and OSHA inspections; participates in industry committees as assigned. Willingness to perform field inspections and travel domestically and internationally as needed; requires extensive site work and adherence to PPE and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum 6 years relevant experience; 10+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree; Preferred 10+ years supervisory experience
- Experience in rigging supervision
- Prefer NCCCO certifications (or equivalent), including Rigger Level II, Signal Person, and Crane Operator
- Prefer a Certified OSHA crane inspector with experience serving as Assembly/Disassembly (A/D) Director for mobile cranes
- Proven ability to develop and deliver rigging training programs and craft qualification initiatives
- Experience working with crane OEMs and heavy lift/heavy transport subcontractors
- Previous experience as a Lead Rigging Superintendent or Rigging Manager on a heavy industrial direct-hire construction project (LNG, oil/gas, refinery, petrochemical, mining/minerals processing, power generation, or nuclear)
- Knowledge of ASME B30 and OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC and Subpart H
