Job Summary
Traveling Benefits Support Staff (Public Benefits Specialist - Entry) based in La Grande, OR, provides in-person coverage across the district offices in Baker, Union, and Wallowa Counties. Serves as the first point of contact in field offices, supports daily office operations, assists Oregonians with the Oregon Eligibility system for ODHS/OHA/DELC programs (in person, by phone or email), and handles confidential data with integrity. Requires front-line customer service in a high-volume environment, ability to explain complex rules and procedures to diverse audiences, proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel/email, data entry accuracy, and trauma-informed communication. Schedule is on-site, traveling throughout the district, with a focus on helping Oregonians access essential services and benefits. Compensation includes annual salary range listed, benefits, and potential for salary progression; visa sponsorship is not offered.
Required Qualifications
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Two years of experience working in a reception area or call center with high volume
- OR an associate degree in Behavioral Science, Social Science or closely related field AND six months of experience in a busy reception area or call center
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
