Job Summary
Oversee administration, compliance, communication, and strategic management of employee benefits programs for a complex unionized healthcare environment. Responsibilities include administering medical/dental/vision/Life, disability, retirement/pension plans, FSA, commuter and wellness programs; COBRA administration; managing benefits enrollment and annual open enrollment; ensuring timely processing through HRIS/payroll systems (Workday); invoicing reconciliation and vendor coordination; leave of absence administration (FMLA, NYS PFL, ADA, workers’ comp, disability, paid leave laws); maintaining regulatory compliance (ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, NYC/NYS leave laws, OSHA); providing employee support, education, and communications; partnering with HR leadership, payroll, labor relations, finance, and vendors; leading benefits staff and driving process improvements and cost-containment; budgeting and reporting on benefits utilization; and supporting audits and regulatory inquiries.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive benefits and leave administration experience
- Experience with Workday HRIS preferred
- Strong working knowledge of New York State and New York City employment and leave laws required
