Job Summary
Benefits Manager to develop and manage comprehensive benefits programs including health/dental/vision, retirement plans and ESOP, life insurance, disability, wellness initiatives, and leaves of absence within a multi-employer, multi-entity organization. Responsibilities include benefits strategy and design, benefits administration (open enrollment, enrollment changes, vendor relationships), ESOP support, payroll deductions coordination, compliance with ERISA/ACA/Cobra/HIPAA/FMLA/ADA, annual reporting (5500s, plan documents, notices), employee communications and engagement, and leadership advisory on benefits-related matters. The role requires collaboration with HR, payroll, and finance across subsidiaries, managing leaves of absence, and ensuring accurate benefits setup and tax configuration. The position emphasizes a strategic, data-driven approach in a 100% employee-owned company with a strong culture and opportunities for professional development and internal advancement.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in benefits administration, with at least 2 years in a senior specialist or managerial role
- Experience: Experience leading benefits administration and strategy within a multi-entity and multi-state organization
- Experience: Experience managing an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
- Experience: Leaves of absence management including state-specific leaves and disability programs
- Experience: Benefits administration in a union and non-union construction industry preferred
- Certifications: CEBS, PHR/SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred
- Experience: Workday Benefits preferred
- Skills: In-depth knowledge of benefits regulations, leave laws, and compliance requirements
- Skills: Strong analytical skills
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Skills: Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration platforms
