Job Summary
Pre-screen neighbors for SNAP, Medicaid, and WIC eligibility while assisting with application completion and documentation submission. Conduct in-person and phone outreach to educate clients on public benefits, connect them to stabilizing resources like food pantries and employment services, and refer cases to the Illinois Department of Human Services. Provide administrative support for case management, maintain accurate client records, and track enrollment trends to inform policy advocacy. Train partners on program policies and develop presentation materials for community events. Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to implement enrollment strategies, while respecting client confidentiality and demonstrating resilience with challenging callers.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience providing direct service to individuals and families
- Must have a car, driver's license and valid insurance
- Hybrid work environment – minimum 3 days in office
- Occasional weekend or evenings required based on community events scheduled
- Travel within the city of Chicago and Cook County suburbs required
- Personal vehicle is required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with public benefit programs and their respective application processes is preferred
- Familiarity with Chicago North/Northwest or South/Southwest. History of living or working in these neighborhoods
- Competitive candidates will have strong interpersonal skills, excellent project management, and good organizational abilities
- Fluency in Polish or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is preferred
- Proficient in MS Office applications
