Benefits and Leave of Absence Coordinator

Job Summary

Coordinate and administer employee leave of absence cases, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, disability, and military leave. Establish requests in PulpStream, track documentation, and determine eligibility while maintaining confidential records. Serve as a subject matter resource for employees, managers, and partners regarding leave processes and timelines. Administer benefits transactions such as new hire enrollments and qualifying life event changes, ensuring accurate processing in payroll systems. Support annual open enrollment activities, wellness initiatives, and resolve issues related to carrier billing and plan administration. Meet regularly with the Benefits Manager to review case status and identify process improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience
  • At least three years of experience managing leave cases such as FMLA, ADA accommodations, disability, military leave/USERRA, and related programs
  • Experience administering employee benefits programs, including enrollments, qualifying life event changes, carrier coordination, billing, and employee support
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data entry, billing, enrollment, and case management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex benefits and leave topics in a clear, employee-friendly manner
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, follow-ups, and confidential cases
  • Ability to provide compassionate and professional support to employees during sensitive medical, family, personal, or life-event situations
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential employee, medical, payroll, and benefits information
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research issues, reconcile discrepancies, identify trends, and recommend solutions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Experience with HRIS, benefits administration, payroll, carrier, or leave management systems
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with HR, Payroll, managers, vendors, and employees
  • Customer-service mindset and commitment to delivering timely, accurate, and helpful support
  • Lifting and carrying objects up to 20 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) certification
  • Experience using leave and absence management software
  • Experience with PulpStream or similar systems
