Job Summary
Oversee development and administration of Region of Waterloo benefits programming, including short-term disability; collaborate with insured benefits carriers on annual renewals and costing in support of bargaining and policy change. Provide leadership and guidance to the benefits team, develop procedures and knowledge tools for program administration, ensure compliance with policies and legislation, run reports and analyses on usage and costs, and contribute to training materials and system implementations within the HR function.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Human Resource Management or equivalent
- Experience in group pension and benefits administration for union and non-union groups
- Knowledge of applicable legislation (e.g., Employment Standards Act, Pension Benefits Act, WSIB, CRA)
- Ability to travel within Waterloo Region
- Strong analytical, data reconciliation, and costing skills
- Leadership and training capabilities for benefits team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
- Ability to read and interpret collective agreements and reports
- Experience preparing detailed costing and program information for renewals
