Job Summary
Benefits Advisor position at Naval Station Great Lakes delivering VA Transition Assistance Program (TAP) curriculum. Serves as an entry-level instructor delivering established curriculum, training tools, and follows training objectives. Responsibilities include conducting VA transition activities (standardized benefits briefs, one-on-one engagements, pre-separation counseling, military life cycle events, Capstone events, warm-handover support), executing non-event activities at the installation, participating in weekly Site Lead meetings, performing quality management activities, delivering onsite activities, and collecting post-event data. Requires understanding of adult learning theories, transitioning service member populations, experience with Microsoft Office, strong customer management and support skills, and experience delivering interactive workshops to live audiences. Preferred skills include knowledge of VA benefits programs, military experience with military clients, and awareness of veteran issues and transition challenges. Minimum: Bachelors degree or 3 years -equivalent work/military experience; travel up to 50%; on-site, full-time, hourly (non-exempt) with SCA rates.
