Job Summary
Greet guests upon arrival and departure, assist with luggage handling, and escort guests to their rooms while providing recommendations for local attractions and amenities. Deliver guest items to rooms, coordinate transportation services including taxis and valet requests, and accurately log stored luggage following security procedures. Escort guests during group arrivals and departures, maintain a clean and professional appearance at the bell desk, and respond to guest inquiries with a guest-first mindset. This non-exempt hourly role requires lifting up to 75 pounds and working flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The Bellperson at The Westgate Hotel supports seamless guest operations by collaborating closely with Front Desk and other departments.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull luggage and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and maneuver luggage carts and guest belongings
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to perform physical tasks in a fast-paced hospitality environment with frequent guest interaction
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous hospitality, hotel, valet, or customer service experience preferred
- Friendly, outgoing, and guest-oriented personality with a passion for creating memorable experiences
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities with the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to anticipate guest needs and provide personalized service
- Knowledge of San Diego attractions, restaurants, and local experiences is a plus
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a high level of independence
- Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with luxury hospitality standards
