Job Summary
Develop and implement behavior intervention plans by mentoring, coaching, and counseling students referred for significant problem behaviors. Provide direct support to instructional staff in identifying, planning, and implementing positive behavior strategies while delivering staff development on classroom management and best practices. Respond to emergency crisis situations daily to defuse unsafe behaviors and intervene in potentially harmful actions on building grounds. Facilitate Family Support Team meetings and collaborate with parents, staff, and administrators to establish proactive problem-solving teams. Conduct trainings on non-invasive self-defense methods and progressive behavior modification systems. Read and research information pertinent to student behavior management issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Psychology or related field
- One to two years experience in a position which provides behavior interventions and support in an educational setting
- Experience in providing staff development, presentations or inservices on topics related to behavioral support
