Job Summary
Behavioral Health Technician provides supervision, support, and structure for residents in a residential treatment setting. Duties include supervising residents, enforcing program rules and schedules, monitoring behavior and reporting concerns, supporting healthy coping skills and emotional regulation, using de-escalation techniques during crises, providing supervision during meals/groups/activities, completing shift notes and incident reports, coordinating with the Program Director and clinical staff, conducting safety checks, and transporting residents as needed. Strong communication and teamwork skills and the ability to maintain professional boundaries are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, mental health, or substance abuse preferred
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred)
- Crisis intervention or de-escalation training (preferred)
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles (preferred)
- Experience in residential or behavioral health settings (preferred)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to establish and maintain healthy boundaries
- Basic computer and documentation skills
- Ability to remain calm under high-stress situations
