Job Summary
Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) – Intake role in a behavioral health/psychiatric hospital. Provides direct patient care under RN supervision, monitors vital signs (blood pressure), inspects patient belongings, conducts security scans with a handheld detector, and intervenes during agitated or crisis situations including redirection, seclusion, and restraint as necessary. Facilitates daily groups using the Mindability-Roadmap to Peace of Mind curriculum, assists with admission/discharge/transfer processes, ensures patient rights and safety, and adheres to regulations and procedures. Requires High School Diploma or GED, CPR/BLS and CPI certification, and fingerprint clearance; two years of behavioral health experience preferred. Physical demands include standing 75% of shift, ability to move, lift up to 35 lbs, and ability to respond to volatile situations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years behavioral health experience preferred
- Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
- BLS/CPR and CPI Certification
