Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) role primarily involves providing direct support and supervision to patients in inpatient behavioral health and substance use treatment programs, focusing on patient safety and engagement. Key responsibilities include conducting safety checks, monitoring patient behavior, communicating effectively with the treatment team, and assisting with admissions and discharges. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably have experience in behavioral health settings, along with relevant certifications. The position demands strong documentation skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/equivalent or higher
- Ability to maintain professionalism, empathy, and composure in high-stress or crisis situations
- Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
Desired Qualifications
- Active CRSS, CADC, or related certification
- Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, and/or mental health settings
- Experience working in detoxification and/or residential levels of care
- Behavioral health certification or related education
Additional Requirements
- Minimum age of 21 and ability to meet company motor vehicle insurance requirements if driving is assigned; valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required when driving is assigned.
