Job Summary
Coordinate and oversee direct care workers and clients while ensuring safety, program rule compliance, and appropriate behavioral modeling. Facilitate chores including mealtime preparation and house meetings, transport residents to community appointments, and monitor breaks and lunches. Utilize crisis intervention techniques for de-escalation, check daily support documentation, and implement the behavioral/level system. Train new employees, assist in developing monthly schedules, and ensure all treatment plans are co-signed by the Director. Maintain updated documents and receive monthly face-to-face supervision. Work primarily in a professional office setting with regular attendance and required overtime, embodying WestCare Foundation's mission and vision.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with clients in a residential setting
- Completed 80 hours of training in alcohol and other drug abuse counseling within 4 years immediately prior to the date of assuming the duties of Lead Direct Care Worker at the program, or within 2 years immediately thereafter
- Current West Virginia Driver's License
- Proof of insurance
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Minimum of high school diploma
- Current evidence of successful completion of a biennial training program in CPR
- Current evidence of successful completion of a triennial training program in first aid
- Regular attendance
- Ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation
- Adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential, or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending twisting, reaching balancing
- Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds
- Use of computer and telephone systems
- Coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files)
- Ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations through the use of approved physical de-escalation techniques
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at distance
- Ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions
- Ability to work and cooperate with clients, co-workers, managers, the public and employees at all levels in order to exchange ideas, information, instructions and opinions
- Ability to work under stress and in emotionally charged settings
- Ability to defend oneself and clients in mentally/verbally abusive situations through the use of approved mental/verbal de-escalation techniques
