Job Summary
Coordinate and oversee direct care workers and clients while ensuring safety, compliance, and appropriate behavior. Facilitate house meetings, mealtime preparation, and community transport for medical or school appointments. Train new employees, develop monthly schedules, and monitor breaks and lunches. Utilize crisis intervention techniques for de-escalation and complete daily support documentation and notes. Implement the behavioral/level system and maintain updated documents under Program Director supervision. Requires at least one year of residential client experience, 80 hours of drug abuse counseling training, a current driver's license, and ability to work overtime in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with clients in a residential setting
- Completed 80 hours of training in alcohol and other drug abuse counseling within 4 years immediately prior to the date of assuming the duties of Lead Direct Care Worker at the program, or within 2 years immediately thereafter
- Current West Virginia Driver's License
- Proof of insurance
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Minimum of high school diploma
- Current evidence of successful completion of a biennial training program in CPR
- Current evidence of successful completion of a triennial training program in first aid
- Regular attendance
- Ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation
- Adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential, or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending twisting, reaching balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds
- Use of computer and telephone systems
- Coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files)
- Ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations through the use of approved physical de-escalation techniques
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at distance
- Ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions
- Ability to work and cooperate with clients, co-workers, managers, the public and employees at all levels
- Ability to work under stress and in emotionally charged settings
- Ability to defend oneself and clients in mentally/verbally abusive situations through the use of approved mental/verbal de-escalation techniques
