Job Summary
Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) in an inpatient pediatric program at RiverValley Behavioral Health Children’s Hospital provides trauma-informed support to youth with emotional and behavioral needs, implementing individualized treatment plans, coaching coping skills, de-escalation, and 1:1 supervision in a structured milieu. Responsibilities include assisting with admissions/orientation, contraband searches, daily therapeutic programming, documentation of patient behaviors, promoting independence in daily living activities, ensuring safety and room checks, and collaborating with nursing, clinical, and administrative staff. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and preferred experience working with youth in behavioral health; drivers license preferred. Location: Owensboro, KY.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; college coursework in psychology, education or related field preferred
- One (1) year of experience working with youth in behavioral health, residential or juvenile justice settings preferred
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and behavioral interventions strongly encouraged
- Understanding of child development, behavioral interventions and therapeutic boundaries
