Behavioral Health Specialist- Union County

Job Summary

Provide case management services to children and families with mental health and substance use diagnoses via telehealth, outpatient offices, and community-based settings. Monitor client symptoms and treatment response, coordinate community resources including schools and providers, and facilitate appointments for physical well-being. Review diagnostic evaluations to aid in developing individualized treatment plans while facilitating crisis intervention consultation during emergencies. Document client interactions, maintain confidentiality, and participate in weekly supervision and agency meetings. Act as an advocate for clients and ensure continuity of care through evidence-based interventions and social skill restoration.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years relevant experience
  • Understanding of human behavior, mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and impact on functioning and behavior
  • Understanding how to therapeutically engage a mentally ill person, concepts of recovery/resiliency
  • Understanding of the mental health system; de-escalation techniques
  • Understanding of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emotional and mental dysfunctions
  • Understanding of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins
  • Relevant experience or course of study in behavioral healthcare
  • Mission driven; strong desire to make an impact
  • Effective interpersonal skills; able to speak effectively with individuals and/or groups of people
  • Ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and good professional judgment
  • Flexible; able to work days, evenings, and/or weekends, as desired to meet the needs of clients
  • Strong organizational skills; able to handle multiple priorities with strict attention to detail and perform work independently
  • Ability to maintain relevant, timely documentation as required
  • Effective computer literacy skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic health records, etc
  • Must be able to access work locations, offices, and homes as necessary, which may include ascending/descending stairs
  • Possess a valid Ohio Driver's License with a safe driving record and valid insurance
  • Successfully complete pre-employment screenings, including drug tests, background checks, and any other required assessments, such as a physical examination and TB test
