Job Summary
Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) manages safety and supports individuals in crisis on unit. Responsibilities include taking vitals, assisting with activities of daily living, documenting services in the Electronic Health Record, conducting security screening, providing orientation to observation/short-term inpatient units, educating individuals on rights and regulations, de-escalation using therapeutic techniques, and performing restraints or seclusions when needed. The role entails monitoring safety every 15 minutes, lifting/transferring individuals, and supporting court-ordered hearings as a witness. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year of behavioral health experience, AAC certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days), and credentialing tasks (NPI, Medallion, Medicare). Possesses a vaccination policy and may require WA Food Handler's Card. Potential duties include maintaining facility cleanliness, medication/documentation duties, and related assignments. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of behavioral health or relevant experience
- Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) certification, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
- Ability to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques
- Must be able to obtain Washington State Food Handler's Card (BHS and RSS positions)
- Complete credentialing requirements including National Provider Identifier (NPI), Medallion enrollment, Medicare enrollment, and any other necessary credentials
