Behavioral Health Specialist (Pool/PRN)

Job Summary
Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) manages safety and well-being of individuals on the unit, takes vitals, documents services in the EHR, conducts security screening, orients patients to units, and assists with daily living activities. Applies therapeutic techniques for de-escalation, performs restraints/seclusions as needed, and supports patient rights and regulatory processes. Responsibilities include monitoring and documenting interactions, participating in court hearings when subpoenaed, maintaining facility cleanliness, and performing other duties as assigned. Earns shift differentials (e.g., additional hourly pay for nights and weekends) and benefits are provided for full-time staff. Required: high school diploma or equivalent; minimum one year in behavioral health or related field; ability to perform Safe Clinch restraint techniques. Preferred: CNA or Patient Care Tech training, BHT certification, and additional related certifications. Vaccination is a condition of employment per company policy.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in behavioral health, social services, or related field
- Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques
Desired Qualifications
- CNA or Patient Care Tech program
- BHT certification
- Two years of behavioral health experience (preferred)
- Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques training preferred
- CPR First Aid or equivalent
- Completion of Safe Clinch training (if available)
- Therapeutic options training (preferred)
