Job Summary
Behavioral Health Specialist at Oak Street Health provides care management and evidence-based short-term psychotherapy to patients with behavioral health needs across primary clinics. Responsibilities include collaborating with primary care teams to identify patients for referral, screening for mental health and substance use disorders, developing care plans, coordinating with a psychiatric consultant and warm handoffs for telehealth, facilitating referrals to internal/external resources, delivering short-term counseling using structured techniques, documenting encounters in the EMR, and contributing to program development across clinics. This role may involve remote work days based on program metrics. 40 hours per week; applicable benefits and competitive pay range are described in the posting.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in mental health field (Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, etc.)
- Highest clinical license (or local equivalent)
- Experience with screening for common mental health and/or substance use disorders
- Experience with assessment and treatment planning for common mental health and/or substance use disorders
- Familiarity with brief, structured intervention techniques (e.g., Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation, Problem Solving, Cognitive Behavioral, etc.)
- US work authorization
