Job Summary
Behavioral Health & Security Associate supports a safe, therapeutic environment in the Behavioral Health service line by enforcing safety policies, de-escalating patients using CPI techniques, and assisting with admissions, assessments, and referrals. Responsibilities include maintaining patient, visitor, and staff safety in accordance with hospital policies and National Patient Safety Goals, monitoring and documenting events, participating in seclusion/restraints when appropriate, coordinating with Behavioral Health, ED, and Security teams, and providing supportive care to patients and families. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Criminal Justice, BLS within 30 days, CPI training within 3 months, and demonstrated English proficiency along with basic computer skills. The position emphasizes recovery-focused care, documentation (DAIR format), and collaboration to ensure appropriate levels of care, discharge planning, and community-resource linkage.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Criminal Justice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - AHA
- CPI Training within 3 months
- Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English
- Basic computer knowledge (Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browser)
- Multicultural sensitivity
- Critical thinking and independent judgment
- Advanced reading, writing and oral skills
- Ability to utilize PC and basic tasks with instruction
