Job Summary
Conduct initial psychiatric assessments, triage, and mental status examinations for emergency admissions at Strawberry Hill Campus. Perform intake screening calls, coordinate bed placement with inpatient units, and manage involuntary paperwork and hearings as needed. Serve as the Qualified Medical Professional (QMP) in the absence of a physician and provide intermittent IV antibiotic therapy and fluid challenges. Collaborate with physicians, consult services, and the BRT/RRT teams to ensure safe, effective patient care and education for patients, families, and the health care team.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate
- Associate Degree Nursing or ADN
- 6 months of experience as a Clinical Psychiatric Nurse in a Psychiatric Hospital or setting
- Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing (Kansas) or compact license
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree Nursing
- 1 or more years experience in psychiatric liaison services
- Course Advanced Trauma Nursing - Society of Trauma Nurses (STN)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) certification preferred for child campus
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
