Behavioral Health Protective Services Officer-Optional

Job Summary
Respond to security calls for service, de-escalate escalating situations, and escort patients between units or from the Emergency Department. Conduct inventory of patient belongings, perform new admission searches, and support the proper application of restraints and seclusion techniques under the direction of licensed nursing staff. Maintain environmental safety rounds, document incidents, and participate in daily huddles and debriefings to promote cooperation between departments and local law enforcement. Serve as a liaison between the Behavioral Health Unit and Protective Services while ensuring compliance with CMS and OMHAS regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED or GED in General Studies
- 2 - 3 years experience
- Microsoft Outlook and related office software programs
- Demonstrates a knowledge of understanding of Hospital Department Policies and Procedures
- Demonstrates a knowledge of law enforcement/security and how it applies to Hospital Security
- Sustain a positive working relationship with local law enforcement agencies
- Sustains a positive working relationship with TriHealth entities
- Maintains effective operational effectiveness of the shift
- Performs the duties of a Protective Service Officer while assisting with special assignments
- Effectively communicates through strong interpersonal skills
- Utilizes conflict resolution and decision-making skills
- Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and physical de-escalation
- Demonstrates knowledge in CMS and OMHAS regulations
- Demonstrates proficiency in application of restraint and seclusion techniques
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Promotes positive cooperation between departments by participating in daily huddles and educating staff about security matters
- Effectively communicates through report writing, appropriate documentation, department huddles, and leadership meetings
- Responds to security calls for service
- Will serve as a liaison between the Behavioral Health Unit and Protective Services as well as local law enforcement agencies
