Job Summary

Behavioral Health Director at St. Anthony’s Medical Clinic in San Francisco leads supervision of behavioral health clinicians and direct care for pediatric and adult clients within an integrated primary care and behavioral health setting. Responsibilities include staff recruitment, orientation, training, evaluation, and supervision; clinical assessments, treatment plan development, and appropriate services with ongoing follow-up; coordinating care with medical providers and other staff; providing administrative support to the behavioral health department; facilitating team meetings, case conferences, and trainings; offering clinical consultation and crisis support; ensuring compliance with policies and procedures; promoting evidence-based practices and trauma-informed approaches; onboarding and mentoring new staff; evaluating program outcomes and client satisfaction; and supporting strategic planning and program expansion. Requires California licensure (psychologist, psychiatrist, or LCSW) or pending licensure, background clearance, and experience with underserved populations, trauma, substance use disorders, and integrated behavioral health; English and Spanish preferred; strong communication and boundary-setting skills; ability to work in non-profit settings with diversity considerations.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure or pending licensure in the State of California as a psychologist, psychiatrist, or LCSW
  • Successful completion and background clearance by the Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • Knowledge of mandatory reporting laws, CPS and APS requirements
  • Fluency in English; Spanish preferred; bilingual helpful
  • 3-5 years counseling or case management experience with underserved populations
  • Experience in assessment and treatment of psychological trauma
  • Experience in assessment and treatment of substance use disorders
  • Knowledge of interrelationship between chronic illness and mental health
  • Experience and skill in evaluating and treating children and adults with mental disorders, poverty-related stress, homelessness, immigration history
  • Previous Integrated Behavioral Health experience desired
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to conduct professional boundaries with guests, volunteers, donors, and coworkers
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations
  • Ability to complete paperwork neatly and legibly
  • Ability or willingness to use information technologies (computers, smartphones, iPads) for information management
