Behavioral Health Counselor MS Licensed

Job Summary
Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling to support emotional and behavioral health while conducting mental health assessments and providing therapeutic interventions. Perform utilization review, discharge planning, and resource referral to connect patients with community partners, schools, and protective agencies. Assess psychosocial risk factors, model crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, and ensure safety during high-risk situations involving domestic violence or abuse. Counsel patients and families on the impacts of illness or disability, maintain accurate electronic medical records, and collaborate with the healthcare team to manage complex psychosocial needs. Work full-time days Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm at IU Health's West Hospital in Avon, IN.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited college/university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
- 3–5 years of relevant experience
- Current licensure in Indiana as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT
- Certification in crisis intervention
- BLS certification
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, MI, and DBT
- Understanding of disease processes, human behavior, and legal mandates related to protective services
- Ability to provide a safe, therapeutic environment and instruct patients in daily activities
- Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records and MS Office
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships with community agencies, medical teams, law enforcement, and protective services
