Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Counselor develops and delivers evidence-based mental health services at Riley Hospital, facilitating face-to-face or telehealth individual, group, and family counseling; conducts crisis assessment and intervention; performs utilization review and discharge planning; collaborates with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care; serves as liaison with protective agencies (APS/CPS) in abuse/neglect cases; supports guardianship, foster care, adoption, and Level II placements; maintains a safe, therapeutic environment and uses EMR for documentation while connecting patients and families with community resources and education; employs CBT, MI, and DBT in clinical practice and participates in multidisciplinary care with stakeholders across community agencies, law enforcement, schools, and other partners.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field from an accredited college or university
- License-eligible in Indiana as an LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or LCAC. Must have a minimum of a permanent LSW, LMHC-A, or LMFT-A upon hire
- Crisis intervention certification required (may be obtained after hire)
- BLS certification may be required
- Experience: 0-3 years relevant healthcare, mental health, or community-based experience preferred
