Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Consultant provides immediate access to behavioral health care across diverse settings (office, wellness center, homes, schools, and other community locations), offering brief assessment and intervention, therapeutic screening, and referrals. Responsibilities include risk assessment and stabilization, coordinating with medical providers and social services, leading or co-leading case conferences, educating patients for individual therapy and treatment services, coordinating care, maintaining HIPAA-compliant documentation, and contributing to program development and community education. The role requires a Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a PsyD/PhD in Psychology or Counseling and Oregon licensure (LPC, LCSW, or LMFT), with a minimum of two years of clinical experience, experience with dual diagnoses, trauma exposure, and capacity to work with Native American populations within a Tribal health framework. The incumbent will work under the Clinical Services Manager, with duties spanning direct patient care and collaboration with tribal programs, and may include tasks outside standard hours as part of the Klamath Tribes’ broader mission.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or a PsyD/PhD in Psychology or Counseling with completion of educational requirements from a professionally approved and accredited educational program with appropriate licensure and/or certification
  • Oregon licensure to practice (LPC, LCSW, or LMFT) or ability to acquire Oregon license within twelve months of hire (reimbursement up to $500 for testing and license)
  • Experience in dual diagnoses (Behavioral health and substance use disorder)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience (post-graduate supervised training may count)
  • Experience in assessment of suicide risk, self-injurious behavior, and case management of high-risk clients
  • Experience with clients who have been victims of physical and/or psychological trauma
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License with ability to obtain ODL within 90 days if out-of-state
  • Background and character investigation as per Tribal policy
  • Annual TB skin testing and adherence to immunization policy for healthcare workers
  • BLS certification within 180 days of hire (strongly recommended within 90 days)
  • Mandatory Reporter responsibilities under Tribal policy
  • Free from exclusion from providing Federal health care benefits
  • Demonstrated ability to model a clean and sober lifestyle
