Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in an outpatient clinic setting using the nursing process, therapeutic interventions, and evidence-based practice. Prioritize and triage care delivery, execute prescribed treatments and medication administration, and monitor patient responses while documenting health histories, vital signs, and risk factors. Educate patients and families on acute and chronic condition management, consult with physicians and community resources to resolve concerns, and participate in multidisciplinary teams to improve care processes. Track quality assurance data for acute and chronic care management and maintain patient confidentiality. Perform general nursing care, obtain consent, and document all interventions using automated systems. Work night PRN shifts at Intermountain Health St Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings, Montana.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current/valid Registered Nurse license from the state licensing board
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS)
- One (1) year related experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting
- Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts
- Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure, and functions; and community resources
- Understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies
- Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients
- Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations
- Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients
- Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
- Critical thinking skills within scope of practice population health management and improvement of patient outcomes
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items
- Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
