Behavioral Health Clinician - Full Time

Job Summary

Conduct mental health and substance abuse screenings, brief interventions, and psychotherapy for adult patients in crisis. Perform initial intake assessments, determine levels of care, and coordinate ongoing care within a multidisciplinary team. Deliver motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy to promote behavior change while completing required documentation per State regulations. Participate in multi-disciplinary treatment planning and refer patients to appropriate services. This full-time role at Valley Health's EmPATH Unit requires a Master's degree in Behavioral Health, BLS certification, and LCSW/LPC licensure eligibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in the Behavioral Health Field, such as Social Work or Counseling
  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart 'Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved
  • American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification
  • LCSW/LPC
  • LCSW eligible or LPC eligible within 3 months of employment
  • Knowledgeable in the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development
  • Competent to provide assessment, care and treatment appropriate to the age group of patients served
  • Competent to successfully interact with patients according to their special needs which may apply based on the age of the patient served
  • Familiarity with local resources and their programs
  • Prior academic or practical training in motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
