Job Summary
Provide direct patient care under RN supervision using a patient-focused model. Assist with bathing, ambulation, feeding, toileting, vital signs, and safety checks while performing continuous observation. Maintain documentation and data entry skills within a patient-centered environment. Requires valid CNA certification, CPR/BLS, and one year of experience in long-term care or behavioral health. Full-time 36-hour day shift.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid and active CNA Certification in the State of Connecticut
- Valid CPR w/BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a long term care and/or behavioral health setting
- Knowledge of basic patient care procedures
- Medical terminology
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Data entry and documentation skills
- Experience working with a psychiatric population
- Significant walking
- Bending
- Stooping
- Patient lifting and positioning
- Manual dexterity for phlebotomy and data entry
- Mental flexibility to perform diverse duties involved in patient care
- Good communication skills, written and oral
- Ability to follow written and oral instruction
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year experience in acute care inpatient environment as Patient Care Assistant or CNA
- Good communication skills
