Job Summary
Carry out behavior modification plans, therapeutic interventions, and crisis intervention techniques including de-escalation to ensure a safe, supportive environment. Observe, record, and report patient behavior, progress, and symptoms to the treatment team while assisting individuals with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, grooming, and meals. Conduct safety checks, manage potential emergencies, and maintain accurate records of patient interactions. Provide emotional support, facilitate group activities, and educate patients and families on coping skills under the supervision of licensed clinicians. This role supports a diverse population of patients with complex medical needs in the Alabama Department of Corrections, requiring active BLS CPR certification and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification
- Must show current tuberculosis documentation
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances
- Must have the ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR
- Must have the ability to maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a mental health, psychiatric, or residential care setting
