Job Summary
Provide direct supervision and training to students with moderate to severe social emotional and behavioral disabilities under the guidance of a BCBA consultant. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to implement structured behavioral management and student behavior intervention plans, utilizing strategies like discrete trial training to address aggression, self-injury, and disruption. Mentor students during unstructured times such as lunch and recess while collecting data on behavioral interventions to monitor progress. Participate in necessary meetings including IEP and Behavior Plan reviews. Requires an associates degree, relevant experience, and willingness to undergo additional specialized training. Involves moderate physical exertion including lifting up to 20 pounds frequently and working indoors with exposure to cleaning fluids. Full-time role for 180 days at 7 hours per day.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree, equivalent course hours, or passing score on ParaPro exam
- Experience working with students that have moderate to severe social emotional and behavioral disabilities
- Good written and verbal skills
- Must be willing to undergo additional specialized training
- Moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary
- Moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects
- Lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis
- Lifting objects over 20 pounds occasionally
- Frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines
- Work indoors
- Exposure to regular chemical solvents such as toners, inks, and cleaning fluids
