Behavior Technician - Lakeside

Job Summary
Assist and instruct students with behavioral needs by implementing skill-acquisition and behavior reduction plans developed by specialists. Administer one-to-one intensive behavior interventions, conduct preference and functional behavior assessments, and collect data on student progress. Provide de-escalation support, facilitate self-help skills, and collaborate with teachers and families to implement IEPs and BIPs. Monitor student behavior, maintain documentation, and participate in intervention meetings and staff development. Work bi-weekly with behavior specialists to review data and support classroom management strategies across various school sites and grade levels.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma (Minimum)
- Knowledge of and ability to implement de-escalation techniques
- Knowledge of and ability to implement behavior management techniques
- Knowledge of intensive behavior intervention techniques
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance and consistency/adhere to working hours
- Ability to monitor and observe student behavior according to approved policies and procedures
- Ability to develop rapport and interact effectively with students
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to handle emotionally charged situations
- Ability to interact and collaborate with staff, students, and families in a professional manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to maintain organization with student data/documentation/records
- Skill or ability to learn the delivery and use of online learning programs as needed per school assignment
Desired Qualifications
- Prior special education paraprofessional or teaching experience
- post-secondary education
