Job Summary
Assist with behavior intervention support across the school community by implementing restorative practices, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed instructional strategies. Provide direct assistance to students struggling with routines, structure, and expectations while fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Implement behavior support plans, facilitate de-escalation techniques, and mediate conflicts among students in common areas and during crises. Collaborate with teachers to support classroom management and assist with transitions to disciplinary alternative education placements. Work with families to enhance their understanding of the restorative process and participate in training sessions to enhance intervention strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent experience
- Experience working with students in a school setting
- Experience in crisis intervention, restorative practices, and de-escalation techniques
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practices and positive behavior interventions
- Training in CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or similar crisis intervention programs
- Willingness to obtain training in CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or similar crisis intervention programs
- Conflict resolution and mediation skills
- Proficiency in de-escalation strategies
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and families
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, adding machines, etc.
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
- Ability to stand, crouch and bend over for a long period of time at intervals throughout the day
- Ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics of data, people or things
- Ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information
- Ability to give instructions, assignments or directions to subordinates or assistants
- Ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, newsletters, schedules, manuals, invoices, requisitions, menus, recipes, journals, etc.
- Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, evaluations, procedures, charts, surveys, articles, bid specifications, brochures, news releases, handbooks, budgets, etc., using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
- Ability to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence
