Job Summary
Innovative Special Education Teacher to design, implement, and lead a new district behavior support program for students with significant behavioral challenges. Responsibilities include designing program structure and philosophy, developing individualized and group programming with evidence-based behavioral practices (ABA, PBIS, trauma-informed care), creating data collection and evaluation systems, configuring classroom environments, and collaborating with administrators on policies and referral processes. Also responsible for providing direct instruction to students with IEPs, developing and overseeing IEPs and BIPs, facilitating IEP team meetings with families and professionals, implementing proactive crisis management strategies, training paraprofessionals, analyzing behavioral data to adjust interventions, and supporting transition planning across programs. Requires strong knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes, and experience with PBIS/ABA frameworks; prefers background in leading behavior support initiatives and crisis-intervention training.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Washington state teaching license/certification in Special Education (required)
- Demonstrated experience working with students with behavioral, emotional, or conduct-related disabilities
- Experience with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
- Working knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education law
- Experience implementing or supporting PBIS, ABA principles, or structured behavioral frameworks
