Job Summary
Behavior Support Assistant 1:1 provides behavioral support for students with significant and complex needs in 1:1/1:2/floating assignments within Providence Public Schools. Responsibilities include implementing individualized behavior plans, data collection, de-escalation and crisis intervention, accompanying students during transitions, training and supervising paraprofessionals, collaborating with teachers and outside service providers, and participating in CPI training. Requires bus monitoring coverage, flexibility for float coverage, and adherence to school-based behavior programs to foster a positive learning environment. Contingent upon funding; eligible applicants may apply for other positions and be placed for the following school year per certification and bargaining agreement.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree OR 48 college credits OR passing score of 461 on the ParaPro Test
- RIDE Certification Requirements: Teacher Assistant Training Program Certificate
- Participation in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training
