Behavior Specialist

Job Summary

Assess individuals exhibiting maladaptive behaviors through file reviews, onsite observations, and functional analysis using QABF or FAST questionnaires. Develop individualized positive behavior support programs and train staff on crisis safety plans, while monitoring implementation fidelity and conducting competency checks. Provide direct assistance in de-escalating behaviors on-site or via phone and make at least one monthly contact visit with individuals served. Document all interactions, progress data, and training completion, and coordinate care with outpatient providers and hospital personnel as needed. Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and in-services as requested. Travel to various program sites and external locations to support individuals and families.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Behavioral Science
  • 2-3 years' experience in designing, training, and implementation of behavior programs for individuals with I/DD
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Travel to various program sites and external locations for meetings and other events
