Behavior Modification Technician, Title I

Job Summary
Conduct one-on-one and group therapy sessions to assess student needs, develop behavior plans, and establish rapport with students, parents, and community agencies. Observe, document, and maintain data on student behavior, attendance, and academic progress while implementing social skill curricula and de-escalating volatile situations. Provide close supervision to students in alternative settings and assist teachers in managing aggressive behavior to enhance academic success. Respond to routine and crisis calls for assistance, coordinate activities for parents, and address Individual Education Plan needs for EC students. Work full-time for 10 months on Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools premises.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Two (2) years of related college coursework
- One (1) year of experience in a mental health or human service program preferably working with behaviorally complex children
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of county and school board policies, procedures, and standards
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and behavior management principles
- Skilled in de-escalation
- Skilled in computers and software including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Ability to develop and implement effective individual/group behavior management plans
- Ability to collect and summarize data to document student progress by observing and charting behaviors and measuring the duration and frequency of inappropriate behavior
- Ability to provide support to faculty in managing students sometimes necessitating controlling aggressive behavior
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work with adolescents and families
- Ability to effectively explain the school system's disciplinary policies and procedures
- Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of current goals
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Services field preferred
- Active Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification preferred
