Job Summary
Assist with the implementation of a behavior program in the elementary setting by establishing high standards for student responsibility and maintaining an orderly environment conducive to learning. Provide supervision to students assigned to In-School Suspension, supervise students during designated times and transitions, and offer "push-in" assistance to the general education classroom. Engage learners in differentiated learning experiences, implement curriculum for intervention, and help students with instructional assignments as needed. Collaborate regularly with school leadership, teachers, and resource personnel while maintaining appropriate records and following student accommodations via IEPs, 504s, and BIPs. Utilize reports and data to improve behavioral aspects of students and protect confidentiality of all records.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree preferred, or High School diploma and general education degree with 60 hours college credit from an accredited college, or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
- Experience in working with children
- Ability to read and write at least the high school level
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write and/or type routine reports and correspondences
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of district personnel or organizations
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Ability to quickly assess student, departmental and school needs and provide timely feedback
- Ability to analyze varied functions, processes and tasks for the preparation of varied records and reports
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy
- Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push/pull items such as furniture or boxes of materials
- Close vision
