Job Summary
Provide direct student assistance for behavioral and instructional needs in a special/general education setting; implement the CPI framework for crisis prevention, verbal de-escalation, and restraints; assist with classroom programs, self-help/self-care, behavior management, and instruction under the supervision of a certified teacher and school leadership; support student management and instructional activities, including recording data, using alternate communication methods when needed, and assisting with transfers and personal care; requires CPI and crisis intervention training, ability to lift at least 50 lbs, experience with emotional/behavioral disabilities, and proficiency with MS Office and Google Drive; maintains confidentiality under FERPA/HIPAA and participates in staff development and school events; positions involve variable daily schedule, physical demands including heavy lifting and restraint, and collaboration with teachers and administrators.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have completed at least 30 college hours; OR
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Current CPI training
- Experience with students with emotional and behavioral disabilities
- Ability to lift/maneuver students with significantly impaired mobility (minimum 50 lbs)
- Ability to effectively communicate and record behavioral data
- Knowledge of MS Office and Google Drive
- Must be willing to participate in crisis intervention training
- Maintain FERPA and HIPAA confidentiality
