Job Summary
Position: Behavior Interventionist in a Joplin Schools special education classroom focused on Communication, Behavior, Social Skills (CBSS). Works with students with significant behaviors or autism, potentially 1-1 or small groups, and collects data on programs. Collaborates with the classroom teacher, behavior consultant, and behavior technician to set and implement student goals, behavior intervention plans, and daily schedules; training in ABA techniques provided. Requires teamwork, strong communication, ability to work with nonverbal students, willingness to learn ABA, and prior experience with autism and positive behavioral supports is valued. Term is 9 months; duties include curriculum support, behavior modification techniques, creating individualized learning materials, assisting with lifting or transferring students, personal hygiene assistance, documentation, and maintaining classroom structure and safety.
Required Qualifications
- 60 college hours or
- Have passed the Para Assessment (MEGA)
