Job Summary
Provide coaching and technical support to school staff and students in implementing school-wide restorative practices, including facilitating Restorative Conferences, Circles, and conflict resolution processes. Conduct intake assessments, prepare participants, contact parents, and develop agreed-upon plans for identified students. Monitor student progress by reviewing data and maintaining daily activity logs and active files for each student receiving restorative discipline services. Develop essential behavior skills and social skill lesson plans to support Tier I prevention, Tier II interventions, and Tier III remediation. Respond to discipline referrals, facilitate transitions to alternative education placements, and collaborate with district specialists, campus administrations, and PBIS teams to strengthen current practices. Maintain open communication with parents, teachers, and community members while working under pressure to diffuse crisis situations and comply with state and district regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or related field from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate (preferred)
- Knowledge of Positive Behavior Intervention & Support PBIS
- Familiar with multitiered model of supports
- CPI Training
- Restorative Discipline Training
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of equity issues in current education reform
- Related experience in dealing with problems of a diverse population in one or more of the following areas: schools, social agencies, law enforcement
- Experience and success working with diverse and underrepresented youth and communities
- Theoretical and practical understanding of restorative discipline processes with the school system
- Ability to facilitate difficult conversation with both youth and adults
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as part of a team and to manage collaboration with a wide range of individuals and entities
- Ability to work through conflict with co-workers and volunteers
- Ability to develop and implement short and long range goals
- Ability to work under pressure and effectively diffuse crisis situations
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks/projects in accordance with stated deadlines
- Computer skills: Email, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
