Job Summary
Implement programs based on best practices using systematic methods and behavioral strategies to support skill acquisition and decrease maladaptive behaviors in children and youth with developmental disabilities. Contribute to clinical team-developed programs to teach and reinforce skills in 1:1 and small group settings while providing personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating. Respond appropriately and safely to changing conditions by understanding behavior functions and creating a positive, engaging environment. Maintain client well-being and safety while adhering to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols. Work within an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced clinic-based setting.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities
- Pursuing or completed education in Psychology, Speech or linguistics, occupational therapy or kinesiology
- Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 6 months
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Monday and Wednesday, 9AM - 6:30PM
- Tuesday and Thursday, 12noon - 6:30PM
- Friday, 10AM - 6:30PM
- Saturday, 8AM - 4PM
- Part-time
- Hourly

- Adhere to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine and provide creative solutions
- Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client
- Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating
- Responsible for maintaining the well-being and safety
- Understand the functions of behavior and responds appropriately and safely when situations arise
- Uses systematic methods and behavioural strategies to support client in changing their behaviour
- Contributes to the development of programs established by the clinical team to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1 and/or small group setting
- Responsible for implementing programs based on best practices
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience working with the pediatric population is a plus
- Enrollment in or degree from a post-secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or another related field is an asset
- Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops an asset
- Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities
