Job Summary
Behavior Guidance Coordinator in the Kenaitze Indian Tribe’s Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Early Learning program provides disability content expertise for 3- to 5-year-olds in toddler and preschool settings. The role conducts classroom observations, offers strengths-based and trauma-responsive behavior guidance for teaching staff, children, and families, and collaborates with the Preschool Supervisor, Infant Toddler Supervisor, Child Care Supervisor, Mentor Coordinator, and Mental Health Consultant. Responsibilities include implementing developmentally appropriate strategies via Creative Curriculum, Dena’ina Language and Culture, and Conscious Discipline; participating in IEP/IFSP meetings; maintaining accurate documentation in the Child Plus Data system; defining and measuring behavior and data collection; facilitating team meetings to develop functional behavioral plans; promoting evidence-based positive behavior interventions; ensuring compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and Tribal policies; and contributing to family engagement and professional development as part of a trauma-informed approach. The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties per supervisor direction in support of the program’s objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Special Education or a combination of education and experience
- Three (3) years of experience in an Early Childhood classroom
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire, or within 30 days
- Valid Alaska driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy
- State of Alaska Food Workers Card or obtain within 30 days of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary/Special Education or a combination of education and experience
- Three (3) years of experience in an Early Childhood classroom
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Valid Alaska driver's license and insurability under Tribe's insurance policy
- State of Alaska Food Workers Card or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
