Job Summary
The Behavior Consultant will provide direct services to PK-12 students with special needs and indirect consultation/coaching to school personnel, depending on each student’s IEP. Responsibilities include conducting formal and informal functional behavior assessments, developing behavior intervention plans with school personnel, designing behavior protocols and crisis intervention plans, collaborating in evaluation and program development, assisting with IEP goals, and participating in case conferences. The role also involves providing ongoing consultation and staff development to teachers and support staff, developing data collection systems, analyzing data to guide positive behavioral interventions, creating instructional materials, and delivering district-wide professional development on behavior support/management strategies. The position supports transitions for students with disabilities, coordinates collaboration with families and outside services, and maintains professional relationships while adhering to school policies. This is a 183-day CONTRACT exempt role reporting to Directors of Special Education or designee, with duties spanning individual student services, staff development, school-wide initiatives, and transition services.
Required Qualifications
- Master's level licensure in areas including school, clinical, or child psychology; school social work or school counseling; general or special education; administration; related service personnel; vocational rehabilitation counselor; or other qualified area. Certification and/or experience as a BCBA preferred.
- Experience working with the psychosocial, behavioral, and educational aspects of PK-12 students with special needs.
