Job Summary
Implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and actively participate in daily activities for youth before and after school to engage students. Serve as a role model to staff and participants while developing positive relationships with families and children through caring interactions. Maintain participant records, ensure safety and cleanliness of learning spaces, and follow emergency procedures to protect all children. Full-time positions include serving the day camp program during summer months. This role supports the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County's youth development mission by fostering academic enhancement, safety, and social growth in out-of-school time programs.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- high school diploma or equivalent
- Must meet all licensing requirements required for the position hired for
- Must be able and willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (if applicable), Mandated Reporter, and Wisconsin Child Care Registry certifications
- Must have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Exhibit the core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors
- Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children
- Must see and hear well enough to keep children safe
- Must be able to engage in physical activity with children
- Must be able to follow all relevant regulations from the Department of Children and Families, or other regulatory agencies
- Must be able to attend all staff meetings and trainings as required
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in a licensed childcare program
